我有問題唔明,,
條問題係:
When a certain liquid-in-glass thermometer is heated,
the glass expands more than the liquid.
(1)What would happen to the liquid column when the temperature increases?
(2)Could such a thermometer be used to measure temperature?Why?

第一條我知,,應該係下降
但第二條我覺得用唔到,,但老師比tips話用到,,不過我唔明

請各位高人教下小妹

奇怪的問題......

1. 是increase吧, glass expand的話裡面的空間應該是收窄才對, 收窄後裡面的liquid就會increase
2. 應該是可以, 只是裡面的liquid升得特別快

expand就是指漲大了
外面和裡面都會expand，所以裡面空間少了，裡面的liquid就是increase

我對此話有點不解
"Hole/ cavity expands as if it were filled with the material"
這句statement 是出自我的physics書及不少internet resources.
雖然我找不到令我完全信服的proof,但我不認為書上及各種resources都會全部出錯

但我同意第二句,因為 coefficient of thermal expansion in volume of MOST liquid is greater than solid.

我想聽聽樓主老師的answer 啦- -

溫度只是基於某物質的物理特性而釐定的
那種溫度計可以量度溫度
只是單位不一定是攝氏
溫度愈高,液體愈低

要量攝氏單位的溫度,大概比較複雜

這個我以前聽過老師說過, 沒找過資料以為是收窄了 = =
或許我也被誤導了吧......
