關於past perfect tense的問題

今天我做了一份關於past perfect tense的練習，遇到一些問題，希望大家可以為我解答。
那篇練習是這樣的：

    Harry Briggs joined the army after he had left school. At 20, he got a job in a bank in London. He always regretted this part of his life. He had lost his job there before he robbed the bank. After he had been released, he worked as a waiter. By the 1960's, he had got a job as a singer in a nightclub and had made a record. People did not know he had formed a pop group before he became a millionare. Life became much easier after
these changes had taken place.
    There were many stories about why his pop group had broken. The truth is his pop group broke up not long after he went to live in Los Angeles. By his thirties, he had married Goldie Bruce, a film star. In our interview, he said many of his fans had misunderstood him, because he had bought a chain of restaurants before he made a film, but not after it. "To make this decision, I did a lot of research into these restaurants." Harry Briggs told our reporter.
